In many of the coastal villages of South Goa and Margao city, the streetlight MCB enclosures and cable junction boxes are left exposed to the elements which is a very dangerous practice. Either the boxes are without shutters or they have a tackily welded cover on top which lets in the rain from the sides.
To make matters worse, internet service providers and cable TV operators unauthorisedly use electricity poles to mount their wires which makes things doubly dangerous. Heavy electrical cables are carelessly terminated at enclosures without any regards to correct methodology or public safety. Often the boxes are installed at such low heights that even a child can fiddle with them. This not only constitutes a grave danger to humans but is also a hazardous enabler of short circuits and flameouts. I request the Goa electricity department to set right such installations.
