The mobile phone of my helping hand was allegedly stolen by some drunk Biharis at my plantation site somewhere in April and there was no sign of it being recovered even when a police complaint was filed.

On that particular day, there were others who had met with a similar fate. A ‘missing’ complaint was filed and for over two months nothing happened even when the Station House Officer stated that the missing phone would be placed under ‘surveillance’ and ‘traced’. As the phone was not recovered, I expressed my grievance through the Citizens Herald and the wheels of justice started to move.

Thanks be to O Heraldo report as the Saligao PI Sachin Lokhre politely called me up stating that he read about the incident in the O Heraldo on June 3 and offered his help and stated that he was not on duty when the incident happened.

In two days, the PI called up to say that the cell phone was traced with a poor labourer Uttar Pradesh who had bought it from an unknown seller. While I want to thank the PI who worked under the directives of DySP Vishwesh Karpe and promptly helped to recover the stolen mobile, my humble request to the Mapusa police is to keep a close watch on the chor market on Friday where most stolen mobiles and other articles are sold early in the morning at dirt cheap rates. The main thieves can be nabbed here and theft cases can be solved.
