VASCO: Raising the issue of exorbitant charging of admission fees by some government-aided schools, Niz Goenkar Revolution Front (NGRF), an NGO on Wednesday demanded that Chief Minister should come out with circular asking all govt-aided schools to reimburse the donation and admission fees to the students’ parents.
Addressing media persons, NGRF said that the practice of charging high amount as a donation to school and also as admission fee is illegal and unjust. It is the right of the children to get free education from Std I to Std XII. Only nominal fee as per the law should be charged with due receipt to the parents.
NGRF claimed that several government-aided schools are charging high amount from parents as a donation or as admission fee which not all could afford to pay. Such malpractice was brought to the notice of then Chief Minister late Manohar Parrikar by NGRF.
Last year Directorate of Education also came out with the circular which clearly stating the right practice to be followed by the govt aided schools.
As per that circular issued between October and November 2019 by the Directorate of Education, the circular mentioned that "It is brought to the notice that some of the Government-aided schools charge fees illegally from the students and in many instances the receipts are not issued to the students.
