PANJIM:  The Cyber Crime Police Station arrested a dropout and former student of Computer Science for fraudulently creating online gaming websites in the name of a Goa-based offshore casino.

After thorough investigation, it was revealed that the prime suspect, Adla Nithin Reddy, a 22-year-old dropout from Vignana Bharti Institution of Technology, Hyderabad, was behind the illicit operation. Reddy, who had pursued studies in Computer Science, utilised the assistance of ChatGPT.

The intention was to develop the fraudulent websites hosted via the domain provider ‘Hostinger’.

The accused, operating under multiple website domains, utilised fake company logos, brand names and casino imagery to deceive unsuspecting users. Through these deceptive practices, he violated both the IT Act and the Trademarks Act by unlawfully using the complainant's trademarks and impersonating their company.

Tracking the suspect’s movements across different locations in India, a team from the Cyber Crime Police Station, led by PI Deepak Pednekar, apprehended Reddy, at a five-star hotel in South Goa. Following interrogation, it became apparent that Reddy orchestrated the scheme for monetary gains.

A case has been registered under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), Information Technology (IT) Act, and Trademarks Act. 

The accused is currently under the custody of the Cyber Crime PS and has been remanded in four-day police custody. Further investigation is on.
