PANJIM: The Congress held at Protest at Gandhi Circle Old Goa to protest against 8 defectors who contested on the party’s ticket and then joined the BJP. Goa Congress President said that they had betrayed the mandate of the people. They have no moral right to contest the elections. In fact no party should give them a ticket he said.

Congress workers shouted slogans and sang songs against Rajesh Phaldesai, the Cumbarjua MLA who crossed over to the Congress in particular and others in general. They also burnt their posters.

Goa Congress President Amit Patkar said, whether they are old defectors or new defectors, they will not be admitted. He said the defectors are claiming that Congress party will give them tickets. He called them chameleons

These chameleons should not make this mistake. These betrayers have stolen the mandate of the people of Goa. They have betrayed the trust of the voters of the 8 constituencies. They have no moral right to re-contest the assembly elections. No party should given them entry or give them nominations
