MARGAO: Margao MLA Digambar Kamat got angry over media persons on Friday when asked about the speculations of his quitting the Congress and joining Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
The MLA even goes a step further and states that he has not won the election because of the media.
"I am not a leader at the lower level, and hence I should not go on giving the clarifications again and again. Media can write whatever they want to", he expressed anger.
Digambar said even the head of the concerned national media phoned him and said sorry for the wrong news story. Media should not write anything in order to hype.
In the morning speaking to media persons he had once again refuted the speculations of quitting Congress.
It may be recalled that the news of Digambar quitting the grand old party and rejoining the Bharatiya Janata Party had spread like fire on Wednesday, even as Digambar categorically denied it and termed it as a rumour.
There was speculation that in the cabinet expansion the saffron party will induct Kamat as a Minister and allocate him the power portfolio.
The former Chief Minister also blamed a section of the media for publishing reports on him and that too without verifying the facts. “There is no truth in the news that appeared in the national media on Wednesday evening,” he said. A national channel had reported that Kamat was quitting the Congress and joining the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Hearing the news many Congress leaders from the State were also confused. Newly-appointed Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) president Amit Patkar said it is just a rumour.
