Fear among Malpem, Sattari residents with leopard on the prowl

VALPOI: There is fear and trepidation among villagers of Malpem, Sattari since a leopard has been prowling round residential areas for over a month.

Monday early morning he was seen on the CCTV camera, luckily the dogs were in the cage so the leopard could not prey on them. Four days ago too he had visited the area. Earlier a  dog and calf were killed by the leopard.   

Manohar Joshi from Malpem stated that the leopard had come to his house at night four days ago and had eaten their pet dog which did not go into the cage.

A month ago the leopard had eaten a calf from the village. Due to this the villagers live in fear and trepidation.

Manohar Joshi implored the Forest Department and Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to do something to safeguard the lives of the villagers, their pets and farm animals.
