MARGAO: Upset with the irregular water supply, frustrated citizens of Curtorim have urged the department concerned to conduct a comprehensive audit of the entire water distribution system in the constituency.

On Friday, a group of locals met with officials from the Public Works Department (Water Supply) to express their dissatisfaction.

Curtorim resident Roque Mascarenhas voiced the collective frustration of the community, alleging that the government has failed to provide even basic facilities like reliable water and power supply. He highlighted that the pipelines in Curtorim are decades old and in dire need of an overhaul.

"There is an urgent need for an audit of the water supply system to identify the issues causing irregular supply in the constituency. This problem is not limited to water supply but extends to similar issues with power supply and road maintenance as well," Mascarenhas stated.

The citizens are also preparing to submit a similar memorandum to other departments, demanding audits of the power supply and road conditions in the area. Mascarenhas emphasised that despite numerous complaints and temporary fixes, the underlying issues within the water distribution system remain unresolved,

necessitating a thorough investigation.

"The frequent interruptions in water supply are not only affecting our daily lives but are also a potential health hazard. The audit should assess the current condition of the infrastructure, identify the root causes of the recurring breakdowns, and recommend long-term solutions to ensure a consistent and reliable water supply for all residents," he said.
