Court relief for Goan rapper

margao: The District and Sessions Court, Margao, on Wednesday granted interim relief to Muscat-based rapper from Goa, Avinash John Braganza alias Avi for hurting religious sentiments through a music video created by him and shared through social media.

The applicant had uploaded a video in July 2021, and had deleted the same and had neither remade the video or circulated the same, but had suddenly been called by the Cuncolim Police. The police posted a notice on the door of his house at Seraulim under Sec 35 (3) of BNSS, asked him to remain present at the police station.

Adv Sahil Sardesai appeared for the applicant.

In his anticipatory bail application, Avi said that he is willing to join the investigation as and when called for by the investigating agency and also undertake to abide by any other condition which the Court may impose upon him.

The anticipatory bail application has been kept for hearing on Friday, October 18. Adv Sahil Sardesai is arguing on behalf of Braganza.
