VASCO: Germany and India are steadily advancing their shared vision of sustainable growth. Building on the success of the Green and Sustainable Development Partnership, both nations have committed to the second phase of the Green Urban Mobility Partnership. Following the launch of the Green Hydrogen Roadmap in New Delhi, Germany’s Chancellor Olaf Scholz visited BITS Pilani’s Goa campus on Saturday to engage with students and discuss future collaborations.
Addressing a student's question on Germany’s support for India’s energy transition, Scholz emphasised Germany’s commitment to aiding India in its shift toward greener energy solutions. “Germany and India will work together for a healthier and cleaner future for Indian citizens,” he stated, highlighting the potential for both nations to share knowledge and expertise in sustainable development.
During the session, Scholz underlined key themes including youth representation, collaborative innovation and the importance of education and skill-building, especially in the context of supporting startups and technological development. Chancellor Scholz also toured student projects, observing several unique technical innovations firsthand. The Society of Automotive Engineers showcased a Formula Student Electric Vehicle, while Team Giga Watt and Team Grease Monkeys presented their All-Terrain Vehicle projects. Additionally, members of Project Kratos, a multidisciplinary student team specializing in areas like controls, electronics, and autonomous technology, showcased their work. In the field of robotics the students shared developments from their Electronics and Robotics project, a leading platform on campus for engineering innovation.
The Aerodynamics Club briefed Scholz on their research into urban mobility solutions, drone technology for agricultural surveillance, and VTOL systems. Meanwhile, the Astronomy and Space Tech Club, represented by Avichal Verma, showcased projects including Rocketry and CANSAT, aligning their work with international standards.
