The Traffic Cell of Goa Police has taken up a special extensive drive on the occasion of Road Safety Week to clamp down on Motor Vehicle (MV) Act violations. On Thursday numerous violations of riding without a helmet seatbelt & excess pillion rider and rash and negligent riding/driving were booked by the staff of the traffic cell.

Traffic police informed that most of the violators were riding without helmets and some were also riding with an extra pillion rider. A traffic police said that some road users still have no idea of traffic rules. He said once everyone wears helmets there won't be a need for clampdowns.

By evening some of the critical points on Panjim roads recorded nearly 20 violations.
