PONDA: Following a news report by O Heraldo on September 11 about the dangerous condition of the Don Khamb Kavalem bus stop shed, the Kavalem panchayat has inspected the site and initiated repair work, which began on Sunday.

Sarpanch Manuja Naik, along with Deputy Sarpanch Sushant Kapilesh Warkar and panch member Priya Doifode, stated that while the panchayat is working towards constructing a new bus stop shed, repairs have commenced in the interim to address the immediate concerns, like the collapsed wall, crumbling roof and rusty gates.

When questioned about the hazardous tree leaning over the bus stop, Deputy Sarpanch Kapilesh Warkar assured that the panchayat would address the issue and ensure the safety of passengers.

Located at a busy junction, the Don Khamb bus stop is frequently used by school students and visitors to nearby temples. While locals welcomed the repair work, they also urged the panchayat to paint and beautify the shed, given that it is a site visited by tourists.
