Panic in Zuarinagar after gas pipeline springs leak

VASCO: A gas pipeline was accidentally damaged at Birla-Zuarinagar on Friday evening, creating panic in the area. A contractor engaged by the Navy, who was carrying out digging work, struck the Adani gas pipeline, triggering a gas leak.

Upon receiving an alert, police rushed to the site, cordoned off the affected area, and evacuated the public. Fire department officials also arrived at the scene within minutes.

Prashant Pirankar, from the Fire Department said, “We received a call about a gas leak near the Ayappa temple in Zuarinagar. When we arrived, we discovered that the pipeline had been damaged. There was initial panic, but Adani and Navy officials had taken control of the situation. We have since closed off both sides of the road to prevent any danger due to the gas leak.”

Pirankar confirmed that work to shut down the gas pipeline and repair the damage was being carried out.
