Upgradation of Chinchinim PHC need of the hour

It appears that the Village Panchayat of Deussua-Chinchinim while demanding the upgradation of Chinchinim PHC has not taken the trouble to actually visit that building and assess the available space (Pg 5, Herald dt. 09-Oct-2024, Voice of Goa).

Merely paying lip-service to the problems will not solve them. If Chinchinim PHC is turned into a full-fledged hospital, one might see beds even on the road-side because that building on any week day is completely cramped up. It would be in the best interest of the village if the Village Panchayat of Deussua-Chinchinim would ear mark some land to expand the health centre. This dream will materialize only if concrete proposals are put up, instead of merely fantasizing. Shamefully, this proposal comes from the Village Panchayat of Deussua-Chinchinim, a Panchayat Body that is functioning from shabby, match-box size premises. It is more than ten years that the proposal for building a Panchayat building is lying in limbo. Will the Village Panchayat of Deussua-Chinchinim donate that piece of land to build a full-fledged hospital? Can the Panchayat of Chinchinim please put a proper garbage collection and disposal mechanism into action?

Can the panchayat please ensure that village gutters are not used to release faeces from the multiple open latrines in our village? Can the panchayat ensure regular fogging to deal with the mosquito menace? It is the bounden duty of the panchayat to ensure that all these disease preventive measures are in place, or else we will need a replica of the South Goa District Hospital in Chinchinim to address our health problems.
