VASCO: The Goa Pradesh Youth Congress (GPYC) slammed the State government for failing to repair potholed roads across the State particularly at Birla and Zuarinagar in Cortalim constituency.

The activists have threatened to launch Statewide agitation if potholes on roads are not repaired at the earliest as it was posing risks to the motorists.

GPYC working president Mahesh Nadar said that time and again, the State government had proved that it was insensitive to resolve issues concerning the State. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant had failed to keep his word to repair all roads before Ganesh Chaturthil, which will be celebrated across the State from Saturday. He said that due to the huge craters on the roads, many people lost their lives, some were injured but the government had not bothered to repair roads since it was insensitive.

Nadar said that the roads at Birla and Zuarinagar have become risky for motorists and two-wheeler riders and warned that if the PWD fails to repair the potholed roads within the next four days, then the Youth Congress members will be forced to start Statewide protest. He claimed that many people are supporting them on this issue as they are facing problems due to dilapidated condition of roads.

Nadar demanded that Cortalim MLA Anton Vas, who is supporting the ruling dispensation should ensure that the potholed roads are repaired. South Goa District Congress Committee member and Mormugao Taluka cluster head Peter Vaz alleged that the Sawant government was busy in only organising events and has no concern about people.
