PERNEM:  It is a proud moment for Goa and Goans. Vinita Shirodkar from Morjim will represent India at the Miss World Deaf pageant to be held in Tanzania, South Africa from November 19 to 29 this year.

Vinita left for Africa on Friday. Vinita’s 2023 Miss India title has boosted her confidence. She believes in the phrase that one must do anything, and one must give back something to the society.

Vinita Shirodkar’s parents were worried as she was deaf at birth. On one hand, despite the deafness, God had given Vinita the gift of intelligence.  Vinita, who was smart in appearance too, was also good at studies. On the same strength, she is competing and representing India in the pageant.

She had scored 76 per cent in Class 12 from Sanjay Higher Secondary School, a school for special children. Vinita is very fond of dance and painting and loves to travel to different places.

After her father passed away, all the responsibility of the children fell on her mother.  Even today, her mother runs a small business in Morjim to pay for her family and children's education.

Vinita’s mother, who tried to educate her children by running a small business in the village, which is open upto 11.30 pm, is happy with her daughter’s achievements. Residents of Morjim have wished for Vinita’s success and expressed confidence that she will definitely make Goa proud.
