Horror weekend on Goan roads - Seven deaths in 3 days

The seven died in four accidents which took place between Saturday; One person is dying every 31 hours in Goa, 197 people died in road accidents for past nine months

PANJIM: The trail of death and horror on Goan roads continues. Seven deaths have been reported from Saturday till Monday. On Saturday, 2 young women died in an accident at Mandrem. On the same day, two youth died in an accident at Nanoda, Bicholim. On Monday, one driver was killed in a hit and run case at Virnoda Pernem and the third young woman who was riding on the scooter at Mandrem and was seriously injured, died at the Goa Medical College on Monday. The seventh fatality was a woman who died at Upasnagar, Sancoale after her scooter was hit by a bus.  

In the first accident at Mandrem, on Saturday, Priyanka Kharbe (29) and her sister-in-law Sanika Kharbe (19) died on the spot after an accident between their scooter, a tempo and a truck.  In the second accident at Nanoda, Bicholim on the same day, Pratik Praveen Khanolkar , Laxman Malik both of Nanoda died on the spot when their scooter was hit by a car at Pethwada-Nanora junction.

There were three deaths on Monday, Priyanka’s younger sister Siddhi Shetkar, who sustained serious injuries died at the GMC.

The same day tempo driver Niyaz Zari of Dabolim died when his pickup was hit by a truck at Virnoda Pernem, while on the same day 45 year old Piedade Andrade Dourado lost her life when her scooter was hit by a private bus at Upasnagar, Sancoale.
