IMD issues yellow alert for September 3, 5, 6

PANJIM: India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday issued a yellow alert for September 3, 5 and 6, warning of heavy rainfall with winds of 30-40 kmph gusting to 50 kmph at isolated places over North and South Goa districts.

“Heavy rainfall with winds of 30-40 kmph gusting to 50 kmph is very likely at isolated places over North and South Goa districts on September 3, 5 and 6,” the IMD said.

The IMD had issued a yellow alert for Monday, but it was later changed into an orange alert.

Meanwhile, between 8.30 am of September 1 and 8.30 am of September 2, Sanguem received the highest amount of 2.5 inches of rainfall, followed by Pernem - 1.4 inches, Sankhali - 1.2 inches, Quepem - 0.9 inches and Old Goa - 0.8 inches.
