Major land scam on Colvale Comunidade land at Cunchelim

MAPUSA: Colvale Comunidade land which had been given to the Government for burial grounds has been sold to poor families, at prices ranging upto Rs 9 lakh. The land sold to about 150 people, by making plots ranges from 100 square metres to 150 square metres.  Some families were told, it is village panchayat land, while others were told it is landlord’s property.

About 150 agitated families of plumbers, masons and factory workers went to the Mapusa police station on Friday, when they realized that Colvale comunidade land which was acquired by government, has been sold to them without any documents. The families named the four accused. Additional amounts of Rs 25, 000 each were charged for electricity and Rs 25000 each were charged for road construction.
