Paltry compensation paid Konkan Railway land losers demand jobs

Land had been acquired from them at a measly 75 paise per square metre, 30 years ago

MARGAOLand owners who were paid paltry compensation of 75 paise per square metre by Konkan Railway Corporation 30 years ago, demand jobs and shops allotment at Margao Railway Station. 195 jobs have been advertised by the Konkan Railway and the last day for submission of applications is 7 October.

The land losers submitted a memorandum to MP Capt Viriato Fernandes, and demand jobs and employment opportunities and said the last date for submission of applications be postponed.

Savio Coutinho, said that on perusal of previous correspondence it was found that land losers were entitled to jobs or opportunity to run business at the railway stations.

He alleged that most of the shops at the Konkan Railway Station Margao were leased to outisders.
