Panchayat members to get salary hike of Rs 2K

PANJIM: The State cabinet on Wednesday approved a proposal to hike the salaries of sarpanchas, deputy sarpanchas and panchayat members of village panchayats across the State by Rs 2,000. 

Addressing mediapersons post Cabinet meeting, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that the sarpanchas will now receive a salary of Rs 8,000, deputy sarpanchas Rs 6,500 and, panchayat members will get Rs 5,500. 

The decision will cost the State exchequer Rs 2.63 crore per annum. 

However, there was no decision on revising the salaries and allowances of Zilla Panchayat (ZP) members, which was last revised in 2019.

The Cabinet approved extension of Goa Broad Band Network (GBBN) services by four more years.

The Cabinet also granted exemption in stamp fee to Vivekananda Rock Memorial, Kanyakumari for taking up a project in Goa. The Cabinet further granted six-month extension to an agency to engage the same contractor in the Department of Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs.
