Passing the buck continues on Mega Projects in Goa

BJP supporting MLA Anton Vas exposes TCP Minister; Sancoale villagers too on the warpath against hill cutting and land conversions

PANJIM: Amidst huge public and opposition outcry the passing of buck has continued over the conception of mega projects in Goa. Mega Projects, conversion of eco sensitive lands has started sprouting all over Goa. Projects that were opposed when land was converted have begun construction. However, new fires are being lit and along with opposition even ruling MLAs are also getting involved in opposing the environmental degradation.

The party lines are being blurred since after the Opposition Congress fired the first salvo on the Bhutani project, now BJP government supporting MLA Anton Vaz has come out openly against it, saying his name was being maligned. He rubbished TCP Minister Vishwajit Rane’s claim that, he had not complained against the project.

Villagers of Sancoale are opposing the 742 unit Bhutani project, with swimming pools on Survey Number 247/1, which is a private forest as demarcated by Araujo Committee, Former Environment Minister Alina Saldanha stated. She said that two private properties had been usurped by Bhutani Infra. Villagers feared a village within a village would create hell for them.
