PANJIM: An order passed by the High Court of Judicature at Bombay has given ad interim relief to Spacebound Web Labs Private Limited, the organiser of the Sunburn Festival, with a temporary injunction restraining the defendants and their associates from making defamatory statements against the festival in any public space, including on media platforms.

The order was passed on an interim application that Spacebound filed recently at the High Court of Judicature at Bombay seeking to restrain activists, media and NGOs from purported writings against Sunburn. Among the 18 defendants in the case is O Heraldo.

In its order the court noted that defendant 1 to 7 – which includes South Goa MP Captain Viriato Fernandes, Benaulim MLA Venzy Viegas, State Leader of the Opposition Yuri Alemao, Velim MLA Cruz Silva apart from activists and NGOs – had not appeared despite being served.

The court directed that the defendants should be intimated about the next date of hearing and Affidavits in Reply should be filed before that date, with the stand over October 24.
