MARGAO:  The South Goa Congress Committee reiterated their demand for immediate commencement of training classes in dance, music and theatre at Ravindra Bhavan, Margao.

Addressing a press conference, Congress leaders also condemned Ravindra Bhavan-Margao Chairman Rajendra Talak’s statement accusing Member of Parliament Captain Viriato Fernandes of being unaware of events in Margao.

It is worth noting that a few days earlier, the MP had requested training classes in dance, music and theatre to benefit individuals interested in these fields in Salcete. In response to the MP’s request, the Chairman of Ravindra Bhavan-Margao stated that several private institutions already offer such training classes, suggesting there is no necessity to start them at Ravindra Bhavan.

“Our demand remains unchanged: start training classes in dance, music, and theatre at Ravindra Bhavan, Margao. The existence of private institutions in the field should not be an excuse for not initiating these classes,” said Savio D’Silva, President, South Goa Congress Committee.

He further questioned whether Ravindra Bhavan-Margao is exclusively for Margao and why it shouldn’t cater to Salcete taluka as well.

Moreno Rebello, Congress leader, claimed that all other Ravindra Bhavans, including Vasco, Curchorem, etc, are conducting training in dance, music, and theatre.

“Why not in Ravindra Bhavan, Margao? Our demand is simple: start training classes in dance, music, and theatre,” he demanded.

He further demanded that Rajendra Talak should place in public domain the names of all the 20 cultural institutions and 15 private institutions which he claimed are undertaking music, dance and theatre training classes in Fatorda and Margao along with the details of the Fees charged by each Institution.

Ravindra Bhavan Chairman Rajendra Talak has also exposed that the dance teachers working in Kala Academy are taking private classes in Margao and Fatorda. How can a Government servant take private classes? We demand that Art and Culture Minister Govind Gaude and ESG Chairman Delilah Lobo should seek clarification from Talak on the statements made by him showing failures of art and culture department and ESG, said Moreno.
