PANJIM: The mega cash for government job scam has angered a large section of the people. It is a complete breach of faith in the government and the administration that is supposed to select employees on the basis of merit. However their trust has been betrayed with evidence of cronies being recruited and jobs being sold for lakhs of Rupees. The Cash for Jobs scam may now be touching Rs 10 crores. In this edition of Street Voices, Herald TV asked a section of the people. Has the job scam angered people so much that people will come out on the streets?

If you (Opposition) have guts, step out onto the road and put up a sustained fight.

The Opposition party representatives are addressing press conferences on a daily basis. There is need for the Opposition to hit the road. After the massive job scam, there is need to build pressure on the government. There is need to make a strong statement, that we do not want this government. There is need for a sustained fight. They have literally stolen our jobs. They have taken money from people. People have taken loans, pawned their gold, mortgaged their properties for government jobs. People are reduced to poverty because of this scam. Your press statements are countered next day by ruling party. If you have guts, step out onto the road and put up a sustained fight.

You have a good opportunity now that the scam has blown up. Come forward and lodge your police complaints. Don’t get scared what will happen,

If the victims keep silent, they will not get the money. Those who have taken the money will tell you, that they will return the money. They will not. If they had any intention of giving the money, they would have returned it long back. You have a good opportunity now that the scam has blown up. Come forward and lodge your police complaints. Don’t get scared what will happen, whether Income tax will raid you. You have taken loans from people. Are you not paying back in instalments? Take courage. Yesterday two cases were filed at the Margao Police Station. Most of the fraudsters are women. We have slogans like Beti Bachao, Beti Padao, are we educating them to commit frauds?

Both should come out and tell that during their tenure they have given jobs in Transport, PWD or Labour departments without taking a single rupee.

Power Minister Sudin Dhavalikar has talked about the cash for jobs scam. But when he and his brother were ministers in previous BJP government. Both should come out and tell that during their tenure they have given jobs in Transport, PWD or Labour departments without taking a single rupee. They should come in front of Goddess Mahalaxmi and confess that they have not taken a single rupee to give jobs. Only then will I salute them. Sudin Dhavalikar, do not try to fool the people. Whenever the elections are round the corner, we know how you do ‘setting’ and you join the ministry, the world knows this. You are not bothered about the common man, you are only thirsty for power. You are not bothered which party comes to power, you only want the chair.
