Tension at Velsao, as RVNL descends on Mollo village armed with bulldozers and police force

Next mutually agreed demarcation for double tracking is scheduled on November 18, 2024

VELSAO: Tension rent the air in Velsao, on Tuesday, where railway authorities, backed by heavy machinery and police presence, descended on village Mollo. They began double-tracking work without presenting proper land documentation. Villagers and local panchayat body rushed to the site and protested leading to RVNL to cease the construction activities at present.

The villagers pointed out that officials from the Directorate of Settlement and Land Records (DSLR) have arrived with only measuring tapes rather than detailed plans.The next date for conducting the demarcation has been verbally agreed by all parties for coming Monday at 10:00 am (on Monday 18 November.

On Tuesday the railway authorities along with deputy collector, backed by  heavy machinery and a police presence began double-tracking work at Velsao. Soon tension escalated when locals pointed out that the authorities were conducting the demarcation work with no proper plan. The work was halted after much pressure from the villagers and the next date for conducting the demarcation has been verbally agreed by all parties for coming Monday
