MAPUSA: Water supply in several parts of Pernem, Bardez and parts of Bicholim Taluka has been affected as the Tillari Irrigation Dam is shut for annual maintenance since November 11.

People will have to wait for another four days to have their water supply restored.

Residents of Calangute, Porvorim, Siolim and other parts of Pernem Taluka are facing a lot of inconvenience due to the irregular water supply.

Sources informed that the Tillari Irrigation Dam Project will continue to remain temporarily closed in Maharashtra till December 10, to carry out the annual maintenance of the Tillari project canal including tributaries.

The PWD and WRD officials have urged residents to use water judiciously till the repair work is completed.

The PWD has further stated that alternate arrangements for drinking water supply in all these talukas have been made by pumping water from Kalna River for Chandel Water Treatment Plant in Pernem Taluka and from Chapora River at Sal for the Assonora Treatment Plant for Bardez and Bicholim Talukas.
