VASCO: The Vasco Railway Police on Tuesday seized 110 bottles of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) worth Rs 14,550, abandoned in one of the coaches of the Amravati-Shalimar Express train at the Vasco Railway station.

The team comprising PSI Yeshwant Mandrekar and others were conducting their regular checking duty on board the Amravati-Shalimar bound Express train at around 6 am when they noticed two handbags and a trolley bag lying abandoned on the train. The police made enquiries with the passengers but nobody came forward to claim ownership.

Later, the railway police took possession of the handbags and the trolley bag, opened them and found 110  bottles of IMFL,  including 105 750-ml bottles of whisky and five two-litre bottles of whisky, all amounting to the value of  Rs 14,550. All the bottles were later seized after the panchanama was conducted, and handed over to the Excise Department. 

The police team that made the seizure was headed by Yeshwant Mandrekar and assisted by female head constable Shradha Naik, police constable H B Shivananda, driver Kishor More and two home guards, under the guidance of Vasco Railway PI Anand Shirodkar.
