PANJIM: Ruling MLA Michael Lobo has lashed out at the attempts to disturb communal harmony in Goa and questioned why Subhash Velingkar made these controversial statements one month before the Exposition of the Holy Relics of St Francis Xavier. It is a conspiracy to divert attention from the anti-land conversion protests. Calangute MLA Michael Lobo said after participating in the protests organised by people of Calangute and surrounding areas. Opposition reacted

Calangute MLA Michael Lobo said police had not arrested Velingkar despite several court judgements in similar cases. He said people should try to understand and maintain peace. Meanwhile, Michael said it is a conspiracy to pass the Bhutani and Zuari land projects. The Zuari project has obtained sanad during these days he said.

When asked to comment on Michael Lobo’s statements, BJP Spokesperson Giriraj Pai said one should ask Chief Minister about it. It was necessary that MLAs solve their grievances within the party, he added.

The opposition leader Yuri Alemao of the Congress party described Michael Lobo as a joker and a tiatrist. He called him a betrayer and said he wants to settle scores and has a personal agenda.
