MARGAO: As the Cash-for-Jobs scam in Goa has sparked a major political and public outcry, Goa Pradesh Youth Congress has lashed out at the BJP Ministers and party office-bearers of being complicit in the scam.
Joel Andrade, President, Youth Congress demanded for accountability and judicial inquiry into the matter.
Andrade's allegations suggest that BJP members orchestrated a corrupt scheme involving job sales within the government, particularly in the Public Works Department (PWD), as he pointed to an arrest involving a BJP Mahila Morcha official, who is directly linked to top politician’s wife as one of the key figures in the scandal.
He has demanded an independent judicial probe, led by a retired High Court judge, to uncover the truth.
The Youth Congress President also wants all ongoing recruitment processes to be scrapped, with future recruitments to be overseen by the High Court to ensure fairness and transparency.
Andrade and others argue that this corruption undermines the very foundation of public service and harms Goa’s youth, sending a message that only those willing to pay or use political connections can succeed.
The political fallout for the BJP is significant. Opposition parties, including the Congress, are demanding that those responsible be held accountable as Andrade
has warned that the scale of the corruption is unprecedented in Goa, suggesting that the government under Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has lost its moral authority to continue governing.
