PONDA: Goa government should promote spiritual tourism in Goa, spokesperson of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti Ramesh Shinde said, questioning the current tourism trend, which flaunts casinos and sunburn.

“Government should promote spiritual tourism that preserves the sanctity of temples. Today, Goa’s image is that of being land of casinos, beaches having scantily dressed women, loud music events like ‘Sunburn’, amongst others. Is this really the culture of Goa?” he questioned.

He was speaking at the inauguration of the Gomantak Mandir-Religious Institution Parishad organised by the Gomantak Mandir Federation and the Hindu Janajagruti Samiti at the Singhpurush Hall in the premises of Shree Mahalasa Narayani Temple in Mardol.

He further said the internal disputes of the temples should be resolved among themselves through religious scriptures and ‘Dharmacharyas’, which otherwise allows the government to interfere, having dire consequences.

On this occasion, Secretary of Gomantak Temple Association Jayesh Thali, social media influencer and a staunch Hindu devotee Shefali Vaidya and Sadhguru Nilesh Singbal, preacher of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti, were present.

The conference started with the lighting of the lamp by dignitaries. The conference was attended by about 250 temple trustees, committee members, devotees etc.
