PANJIM: After 19 days of wait, the Principal District and Sessions Judge dismissed the anticipatory bail plea of the prime accused Pooja Sharma in the Assagao house demolition, on Wednesday.
The prosecution called Pooja Sharma as the 'Queen Pin' of the incident that occured at Assagao on June 22.
Arguments over the bail plea of Pooja Sharma in the court went on for almost three days. The bail application was finally dismissed by Justice Irshad Agha.
During the arguments the senior lawyer and defence counsel Surendra Dessai said that the Sharma is not evading arrest and is cooperating. The defence also argued that the offence is not of serious nature and custody is not necessary.
It is also to be noted that Sharma's counsel said that the case against her has been withdrawn and now Arshad Khwaja is the main accused. Sharma also said that she was not present in Goa while the offence she is being accused of was committed and also that she has not conspired.
The prosecution meanwhile maintained that Pooja Sharma is the 'Queen Pin' in this matter and is a beneficiary. The prosecution has prayed for custodial interrogation of the accused in the matter.
