FC Goa rope in yet another Spaniard Eduardo Bedia

Ex-Barca B player becomes 5th signing

PANJIM: FC Goa are on a roll as they confirmed their seventh foreign signing for the 2017-18 Indian Super League season.  The Gaurs have roped in former Barcelona B player Eduardo Bedia Peláez.

A statement on the club's official Twitter handle read: "Join us in welcoming Eduardo Bedia Peláez to our #Gaur family. #ForcaGoa".

A product of La Liga club Racing de Santander's youth academy, the dynamic midfielder made his senior team debut in 2008. In 2013, Bedia joined the Barcelona B squad after spending a couple of years in an assortment of lower rung football clubs.

In a bid to bolster their squad for the upcoming edition of the ISL, the Gaurs seek their midfield stability in the 28-year-old Spaniard.

The club will be aiming to better their performances of the previous season, which saw them finish at the bottom of the table. And hence, Eduardo’s addition may well turn out to be their marquee signing for the season. 

Standing at 6ft 10in, the tall Spaniard is a powerhouse with his shooting skills and makes full use of his height. Blessed with good passing abilities, the speedster will have a few tricks up his sleeves to impress the club faithful. The signing comes at the perfect time as Bedia could manage some valuable training time to acclimatize to his new club prior to ISL-4. He is the fifth Spaniard in FC Goa's squad for ISL-4.

With the upcoming edition of ISL set to kick off on  November 17, FC Goa will be aiming to make amends for their disappointing last place finish in ISL-3. 

The Goa outfit seems to be going all out in their bid for a good finish and the Spaniard's signing could well prove to be the catalyst for a successful season. The Gaurs had quite a fall from grace after reaching the final in 2015, and the Spaniard will be tasked with restoring the ISL legacy of the lone club from Goa. 

Bedi has enough experience under his belt and the 28-year-old can prove to be an inspired signing for the champions. It remains to be seen if the Spaniard’s addition in the lineup amounts to any advantage for the defending champions.
