Cong demands FIR against Sunburn organisers for death of three tourists
PANJIM: The students and youth wings of the Congress have demanded that the police register a First Information Report (FIR) against the organisers of Sunburn Klassique and arrest them for the deaths of three tourists at the festival venue.
The Goa Pradesh Youth Congress and Nation Students Union of India on Tuesday submitted a joint memorandum to the Goa Police demanding an FIR for the “murder” of the three party revelers.
“A delay in investigation may give time to the culprits to conceal and suppress the crucial evidence. The law must be allowed to take the right course. Therefore, we demand to register FIR against Sunburn EDM organisers immediately for the murder of three youth and arrest the EDM organisers to send a positive signal to all,” the three-page memorandum to the department states.
The two wings of the Congress have also warned of an agitation if the police shy away from taking action against the EDM organisers.
On December 27, two youth from Andhra Pradesh Venkat (26) and Sai Prasad (31) lost their lives which the police claim was due to heart attack, as they were standing in the queue at the box office to collect tickets to enter the festival venue. On the last day of the show on December 29, the State saw another death of Sandeep Kotta, a native of Hyderabad and working in Bangalore.
