Anjuna Police arrest hotel security guard for theft from tourist's room

The Anjuna Police have apprehended one person for committing a theft in a hotel room at Anjuna. The incident involved a tourist couple from Bengaluru, Karnataka, who were on a vacation trip to Goa and were staying at a rented apartment at Anjuna.

According to SDPO Mapusa, Jivba Dalvi, the couple reported that an unknown individual had entered their locked room while they were at Vagator Beach and stolen a gold chain and other items valued at approximately Rs. 1,20,350. 

The police immediately registered an FIR. Remarkably, the Anjuna Police cracked the case within just two hours of registering the crime. The police identified the accused as Atul Kumar Bais, a 23-year-old from Madhya Pradesh. Bais worked as a security guard at the hotel where the theft took place. The police apprehended him just as he was about to flee to his native place. During questioning, Bais confessed to the crime, leading to the recovery of the stolen gold chain.

The accused has been arrested under sections 454  and 380 of the Indian Penal Code. PI Anjuna Prashal Dessai led the investigation team, with PSI Sahil Warang, Dhiraj Devidas, and Police Constables Rama Parab, Satyendra Nasnodkar, Laxman Sawaldesai, and Rupesh Azgaonkar. SDPO Mapusa, Jivba, carried out the overall supervision of the investigation. Dalvi, and Nidhin Valsan, IPS, SP (North), Porvorim.
