Residents of Pernem Taluka have been grappling with a surge in leopard sightings in recent weeks, heightening concerns about human and animal safety. Reports of leopards targeting dogs and cows have further fueled anxieties among locals, prompting calls for urgent intervention to address the escalating situation.

The sighting on May 28 in Deulwada Palyem prompted swift action from vigilant citizens, who promptly alerted authorities to the presence of the big cat. Expressing apprehension over the situation, a resident, speaking on condition of anonymity, emphasized the urgent need for action, stating, "The frequent presence of leopards in our villages is deeply concerning. We fear for the safety of our children and our animals. It's imperative that the forest department takes decisive steps to address this issue before any tragic incidents occur."
