The Anti Narcotic Cell Police Station of Goa Police has apprehended a Nigerian woman with 150 grams of amphetamine valued at Rs. 15 lakhs. The raid also led to the seizure of 100 grams of Ganja in her possession.
The arrested individual has been identified as Faith Chiemerie, aged 24. Chiemerie was intercepted at the bus stop near Green Park Hotel at Guirim, Mapusa, where she arrived on a Bangalore-bound interstate bus, allegedly carrying the contraband. The operation was carried out by the ANC team led by PSI Manjunath Naik.
Preliminary investigations suggest that Chiemerie had traveled from Bangalore to Goa with the narcotics with the intent of further distribution and sale. This incident comes in the wake of recent efforts by the ANC, including the dismantling of a hydroponic cannabis lab at Borim Ponda, resulting in the arrest of a local youth involved in cannabis cultivation.
Throughout the current year, the ANC has seized narcotics amounting to Rs. 3.77 crores and apprehended a total of 9 individuals, comprising both locals and foreign nationals, as part of their ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking in Goa.
The raid was conducted by PSI Manjunath Naik along with a team comprising HC Umesh Dessai, PCs Nitesh Mulgaonkar, Mandar Naik, Makarand Ghadi, Sandesh Volvoikar, Sachin Atoskar, Yogesh Madgaonkar, LPCs Pooja Sawant, Sneha Chodankar, and HG Tushar Savoikar under the supervision of PI ANC Sajith Pillai. The operation received guidance and oversight from DYSP ANC Nerlon Albuquerque and SP ANC Akshat Kaushal, IPS.
