On Sunday, people across Goa lit diyas between 7 pm and 7.30 pm on Sunday as a mark of protest against the diversion of Mhadei waters by Karnataka. In Mapusa, a Save Mhadei candlelit procession was held at Gandhi Chowk, Mapusa by the people of Bardez to show solidarity with the Mhadei cause. Whereas in Pernem, Save Mhadei Pooja was held, where prayers were offered to God to help Goa win the Mhadei diversion battle.
Similarly, around 100 students from across the board, under the banner of Students for Mhadei, from Goa University and affiliated colleges staged a silent march for Mhadei. The march started at Goa University Library and culminated at Azad Maidan Panjim, covering a distance of over 8 kilometres. They said they had no political affiliations and said this was the last chance to save Mhadei.
