A planned sealing of Hotel Colmar in Colva, initiated by the authorities following a GCZMA (Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority) order due to alleged violations of Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) rules, encountered an unexpected obstacle. The hotel's owner claimed a stay order from the Supreme Court, causing a temporary halt to the sealing process.
The contention arose as the Supreme Court order, allegedly directing a stay on the sealing, was not reflected in the GCZMA order presented by officials on the scene. The authorities, armed with the GCZMA order, arrived at Hotel Colmar with the intention of sealing the premises.
However, the situation took a legal turn when the owner contested the action, citing a Supreme Court stay order that contradicted the GCZMA directive. The owner emphasized the disparity between the two orders, noting that the Supreme Court's stay on sealing was not acknowledged in the GCZMA paperwork brought by the officials.
