PANJIM: Bhatikar Model High School emerged winners in boys category, while Sharada Mandir clinch the girls trophy in the Vishnu Sinai Dempo memorial All-Goa Inter-School Invitational Table Tennis Tournament for boys and girls organised by Yogish Vishnu Dempo in association with Panaji Morning Stars Sports Club, at the table tennis hall of indoor stadium, Campal, here, recently.
In the girls final, Sharada Mandir A outsmarted Sharada Mandir B 2-1.
Earlier, in the semi-finals, Sharada Mandir B outplayed V D and S V Wagle High School A 2-0; Sharada Mandir A outsmarted St Mary’s Convent High School A 2-1.
In the boys final, Bhatikar Model High School A outplayed Corner Stone High School A 2-0. Earlier, in the semi-finals, Bhatikar Model High School A outsmarted Britto High School A 2-1, while Corner Stone High School A defeated Sharada Mandir A 2-0.
The tournament was organised especially for students studying in Class X and below. Each team was of minimum three and maximum four players. Separate team events were held for boys and girls. 16 schools participated. There were 22 boys and eight girls teams. In all, 112 students participated.
Teams were grouped based on the number of team entries received. All group matches were played on league basis. Top teams from groups qualified for knock-out stage.
Chief guest industrialist Anil Counto gave away prizes to the winners and runners-up in the presence of other dignitaries.
