RAIA: Canacona Sports and Cultural Club scraped past Guardian Angel Sports Club 5-4 via tie-breaker to enter the semi-finals of Marcus Mascarenhas (Mark) memorial trophy tournament organised by Sarzora Sports Club at Chinchinim Church ground, on Monday.
Austin Diniz scored the first goal in the 38th minute for Canacona Sports and Cultural Club, but the joy was short-lived as Dravid Fernandes equalised for Guardian Angel SC in the 40th minute.
Jaison Dias of Guardian Angel SC netted the third goal in the 50th minute. Chaiten Kamarpant equalised for Canacona Sports and Cultural Club in the 60th minute.
In the tie-breaker, Canacona Sports and Cultural Club proved to be the better shooters. The man-of-the-match award was given to Earl Fernandes of Canacona Sports and Cultural Club by Augusto D’Silva, former Superintendent of Customs, Mumbai.
