MARGAO: A group of protesters gathered on Sunday in Chinchinim, warning that they will determine their next steps if Subhash Velingkar is not arrested.

Nearly a hundred people gathered to express their anger over Velingkar's remarks about Goencho Saib.

Speaking to reporters, Velim MLA Cruz Silva said that the protest was organised by the villagers and was very peaceful.

"So far, we have cooperated with the authorities and protested peacefully. We’re not waiting for the verdict on Velingkar's anticipatory bail; we will determine our future course of action if justice is denied," he said.

He also mentioned that they have agreed to the Church authorities' call to refrain from taking the law into their own hands.

Winston Dias, a villager from Chinchinim, said that they are awaiting the action promised by the government.

"We don't want any untoward incidents to occur during this agitation," he said.
