MAPUSA: Clube de Salgaocar had an easy outing as they walked past Vasco SC 4-1 in the Goa Professional League match played at Duler Stadium, here, on Monday.
All the goals came in the second session of play. For Clube de Salgaocar Pratesh Shirodkar (2), Meuton Fernandes and U-21 Roger Pereira scored, while for Vasco SC Harshad Naik managed to reduce the margin.
After Monday’s win, Clube de Salgaocar have 14 points, while Vasco SC stay on 4 points, after both teams playing their seventh league match.
After a barren half of the first session, Clube de Salgaocar’s skipper Pratesh drew the first blood for his team in the 63rd minute after seeing the rival Vasco SC custodian Ngamsanglena Haokip a couple of yards from the goal, beautifully curled the ball to the far corner of the goal, 1-0.
It did not take long for Pratesh to net his brace as he collected a long pass from his defender Tipanna Bhavikatti covered some ground and entering the 18-yard box curled the ball into the goal, 2-0.
As the match progressed, in the 72nd minute, substitute Mevzen Oliveira sent a through pass to Meuton Fernandes, who beat the onrushing Vasco SC goalkeeper with a neat placement, 3-0.
Never say die spirit, saw Vasco SC reduce the margin, as Harshad intercepted the Clube de Salgaocar’s custodian Harry’s ball to Suraj and scored, 3-1.
In the 94th minute, Roger Pereira who had come inside from the substitution bench saw his first touch materialise into a goal as he intelligently chipped the ball into the net off the onrushing Vasco SC custodian, 4-1.
