PANJIM: Dempo Sports Club defeated Sesa Football Academy 2-0 in the Goa Football Association Goa Professional League at Duler Stadium, Mapusa, on Monday.

Sesa had the first chance in the game when Laishram played a pass to M Faheez but Dempo defender Shallum Pires, who won the SportsBalcao defender of the month for November was at his best making a crucial interception.

At the other end in the 20th minute Dempo had their first attack when Vinay and Velanco combined together to get into the area and the last named fired a shot which was blocked by Sesa FA keeper Raunak Gaonkar.

Dempo finally broke the deadlock in the 22nd minute Pedro Gonsalves headed in a Suraj Hadkonkar corner kick.

Sesa’s Vishnu Gosawi sent in an aerial pass in the area where Faheez tried to make the best use of the chance but Dempo defender Edwin kept his composure in making a vital block. However, the ball rolled to Kunal Salgaonkar, but he missed to keep his shot in the frame.

In the dying minutes of the game, Mark Barreto sent in a PSA to Kunal, but once again the latter couldn’t get past Dylan Da Silva.
