RAIA: Mount Mary’s Higher Secondary School, Chinchinim, secured their place in the final of boys U-19 Zone III tournament organised by the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs (DSYA), with a narrow 1-0 win, at the Cuncolim ground, on Friday. Calvin Fernandes netted the decisive goal in the first half, giving his team the lead before the halftime whistle.
The second half saw both teams relentlessly attacking, but neither side managed to alter the scoreline. Mount Mary HSS were reduced to 10 men in the final minutes of the match but held their ground until the final whistle.
In the other semi-final, Fr Agnel Multipurpose Higher Secondary School, Verna, edged past St Andrew’s High School, Vasco, in a tense encounter that went into penalties to determine the winner.
The final showdown between Mount Mary’s Higher Secondary School, Chinchinim, and Fr Agnel Multipurpose Higher Secondary School will take place on Monday, October 14, at Cuncolim ground, at 10.30 am.
