PANJIM: The Goa Table Tennis Association (GTTA) has extended its heartiest congratulations to the Goa Challengers team for successfully defending their title in the Ultimate Table Tennis (UTT) League's Season Five.

"The GTTA lauds Shrinivas Dempo, co-owner of the team and chairman of the Dempo Group, for his relentless passion for sports and his outstanding contribution to putting Goa on the national map in the world of table tennis. This second successive win in India’s most prestigious table tennis league brings immense pride to Goa and showcases the exceptional talent and dedication of the team,” stated President Sudin Verenkar in a press release.

“While Goa has long been recognised for its football heritage, this remarkable feat, places table tennis firmly in the spotlight in the State, elevating it to a level of enthusiasm comparable to Goa's well-known football passion. Building on past successes by players Tanisi Kirtani, Wesley do Rosario, Shantesh Mapsekar, Nagesh Verenkar, Tejas Shevde and many others, Goa has demonstrated that it has both the talent and potential to be a sporting powerhouse,” he mentioned.

“Inspired by this victory, we at the Goa Table Tennis Association are excited to announce our plans to launch a UTT-style league in Goa, inviting corporate partners to join us in creating a sporting revolution and inspire more youngsters to take up the sport. We believe that with continued support from fans and stakeholders, table tennis in Goa will reach new heights," noted Verenkar.
