Goa clinches 84-run win over Nagaland

PANJIM: In a decisive four-day encounter at the Panjim Gymkhana ground, Goa secured an 84-run victory over Nagaland in the Ranji Trophy Plate League, on Tuesday. Goa's win was powered by standout bowling performances from Darshan Misal, who took five wickets and Rahul Mehta, who grabbed four, effectively dismantling Nagaland's lineup and halting their chase.

After a promising start, Nagaland reached 141 for 1 in their second innings before Goa's bowlers turned the tide, reducing them to 255 all out. Misal’s effective spell was instrumental in breaking through Nagaland's batting order, while Mehta provided steady support, ensuring Goa's triumph in a tightly contested match.

In the first innings, Goa posted 179 in 58.1 overs, with Deepraj Gaonkar top-scoring at 62 off 109 balls. Nagaland’s Raja Ranjit Swarnkar took 4 wickets. Goa's bowlers responded well, limiting Nagaland to 147, with Arjun Tendulkar taking 3 for 27, despite Jagadeesha Suchith’s 35 not out off 81 balls.

With a 32-run lead, Goa capitalised in their second innings, reaching 306, thanks to Rohan Kadam’s steady 59 off 152 balls and Snehal Kauthankar’s crucial 75.

Darshan Misal was named player of the match.
