PANJIM: Goa put on an exceptional display of both bowling and batting on the Day One of Ranji Trophy Plate League match against Arunachal Pradesh, closing the day with a massive lead of 330 runs, at the GCA ground, Porvorim, on Wednesday.

In Arunachal Pradesh's first innings, Goa’s Arjun Tendulkar delivered a powerful bowling spell, taking five wickets for 25 runs from just nine overs, dismantling the opposition’s batting line-up and helping the team to restrict them to a meagre 84 all out.

Tendulkar’s precision and pace led to the dismissals of Neelam Obi, Nabam Hachang, Chinmay Patil, Jay Bhavsar and Moji Ete. Supporting him, Mohit Redkar claimed three wickets, while Keith Pinto took two, contributing to the collapse.

Arunachal Pradesh’s batting effort was led by Neelam Obi, who scored 22 runs, with Siddharth Balodi contributing 16, Sandeep Kumar adding 12 and Nabam Abo remaining unbeaten with 25 runs. These were the only batsmen to reach double figures, as Arunachal Pradesh struggled against Goa’s disciplined bowling attack.

In response, Goa’s batting line-up went on the offensive, amassing a formidable total of 414 for 2 in just 54 overs. Kashyap Bakhale led the charge with an outstanding, unbeaten 179 runs. Snehal Kauthankar added 146 not out, while Suyash Prabhudessai contributed 73, propelling Goa to a commanding lead.

Arunachal Pradesh’s bowling saw only two breakthroughs, with Yab Niya and Jay Bhavsar managing one wicket each.

In the earlier match, Goa won by an innings and 169 runs over Mizoram.
