RAIA: Guardian Angel SC, Curchorem, outplayed Navelim Sporting Club 4-1 to clinch the 45th St Joseph Festival inter-village football tournament organised by Dramapur Sports Club at the Dramapur ground, on Sunday.
Leading 3-0 at the breather, for Guardian Angel SC, Ryan Menezees scored a brace, while Cyril Dias and Ivo Costa scored a goal each. Ronaldo Pereira reduced the margin for Navelim Sporting Club.
The winners were awarded Rs 60,000 and a trophy, while the runners-up had to be content with a purse of Rs 40,000 plus trophy.
Chief guest Geovani Santimano, former national player and former additional commissioner of Customs and Central Excise gave away the prizes in presence of Velim MLA Cruz Silva, Zilla Panchayat member Edwin Cardozo, Parish Priest Fr Pascoal Alfonso, Sarpanch Avita Pereira, panch members, club officials and other dignitaries.
The club also felicitated SSC toppers and senior members of the club.
