RAIA: Sporting Club of Davorlim scored a solitary goal win over Curtorim Gymkhana to move into the final of 49th Chandor Seamen Football tournament played at Chandor ground, on Monday.
Witnessed by a crowd of over 3,000, both teams began with gusto displaying a fine brand of soccer, looking for an early breakthrough which would have been achieved by SC Davorlim in the 5th minute through Micky Furtado, who shot a grounder but went wide.
Both teams seemed to be equally aggressive, but the first all-important opportunity for a score came SC Davorlim way when a cross from the flanks was weakly chipped into the Curtorim Gymkhana net by Micky taking the custodian unaware.
At the lemon break, SC Davorlim led 1-0.
Changing sides, Curtorim Gymkhana lads left no stone unturned and gave their best but had no luck to level the score.
The SC Davorlim boys kept up the pressure and in the dying minutes of the match could have consolidated their lead but their shooters missed the target.
Micky Furtado was presented the man-of the Match award by President Basil Fernandes.
Sporting Club of Davorlim will meet Fr Agnelo Youth Sports Club, Paroda, in the final on September 22.
